And I don't think we really need anything like that right now. We've had more than enough plaudits. We've just got to quietly work away. It's a little bumpy right now. We put a lot into the last album, it came out and nothing really happened with it. So it's one of those kinds of periods where you've gotta walk the walk, where it's not just about, “Oh, are we gonna quit now because the last album was a flop?” We thought the new record was gonna do a lot better than it has. But we're really enjoying our playing right now, and that's what we have to make it about

Duran Duran's global smash hit second album 'Rio' is to be revisited as part of a new Classic Albums DVD series this October.
Duran Duran have specially re-recorded the album's key tracks; “Save A Prayer”, “The Chauffeur”, “New Religion”, “Hungry Like The Wolf” and the title track “Rio” live for the DVD -- as well as personally telling the story behind the writing, recording and the aftermath of it's success.
'Classic Albums: Rio' includes stacks of archive footage from the period as well as the newly filmed interviews with original band members Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Roger Taylor.
Other interviewees include director Russell Mulcahy, former manager Paul Berrow and Bob Geldof.
Classic Albums: Rio is out on Eagle Rock Entertainment on October 27, 2008.
23 years after releasing the title track to A View To A Kill, British rockers are teaming up with producer Mark Ronson to record a second James Bond theme.
The band recently chose Ronson to remix a string of their hit singles.
They will also be performing a one-off gig with him in Paris, France on Wednesday (02Jul08) night.
Keyboardist Nick Rhodes reveals that the band is keen on working with Ronson again, and that the perfect thing would be to come up with the new Bond theme for Quantum of Solace.
“We'd love to collaborate with Mark on a single for the next Bond film. With him we may even surpass A View To A Kill.”

Duran Duran w/ Your Vegas - show date: 5.2.08 VENUE: Sleep Train Pavillion, Concord, CA
After introducing themselves with a couple of songs off of last year's Red Carpet Massacre , the best synth-pop band to ever grace the planet, Duran Duran, woke even the most casual fans up at the Sleep Train Pavilion on Friday with “Hungry Like The Wolf.” As soon as the opening guitar chords danced across the loud speakers, I felt like I was riding around town in my car, with the windows down shouting, “Doo-doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doooooo.” Of course, this is something I do only while leaning to one side or the other, sometimes with others in the car, mostly in residential neighborhoods but only to this particular song. On stage, lead singer Simon Le Bon and bassist John Taylor, wore tight sport coats adorned with a tastefully stained “D” on the left shoulder, proudly announcing Duran Duran's arrival.

With a new successful new album, "The Red Carpet Massacre" (featuring collaborations with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake, no less), and a huge summer tour, things have never been better for '80s icons Duran Duran. Let's take a look back at the many trials, triumphs and hairstyles that have shaped one of pop music's most enduring bands.
Last Wednesday, Duran Duran brought their Red Carpet Massacre to Seattle's WaMu Theater. However, the only casualties were sore lungs, exhausted bodies and faces aching from smiles that lasted long after the band left the stage. Duran Duran proved once more that they are masters at their craft, re-inventing themselves in a live spectacle full of power, precision and personality. John Taylor (bass), Nick Rhodes (keyboards), Roger Taylor (drums) and Simon Le Bon (vocals) showed they still have the magic which has been their hallmark over the years, bringing the audience to their feet and treating them to an exhilarating array of classic hits and new material.

Andy Taylor's departure from the band????
Strange turnover in Duran soap...What is the real truth to second Andy Taylor departure we might never find out,but here is a recent story from TIMESONLINE
As part of their acclaimed world tour, DURAN DURAN launch their 22-date North American trek in Vancouver at the General Motors Place in support of their twelfth studio album RED CARPET MASSACRE
former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor has been quiet of late, but not idle. Andy has been recording a new solo album, which will hopefully be released later this year and in-between, has been writing his memoirs! The book - Wild Boy, My Life in Duran Duran will be released August 18 and amazon.com has now listed it with a picture of the front cover. A teaser says "Wild Boy is a book that millions of fans of Duran Duran around the world will want to read to know the full story of what really happened."
Backstage in Tokyo, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor talk to Reuters. The boys take time out to discuss their new album, 'Red Carpet Massacre' , and the pressures of fame.
Duran Duran is eyeing collaborations with two of the hottest young names in British music, the Arctic Monkeys and Mark Ronson.
As details roll out for the European leg of the band's Red Carpet Massacre tour, word is out that Duran Duran will join forces with Amy Winehouse producer Ronson this summer on a music project.
Duran Duran still playing, still writing, still happy
There comes a point where you have to be bigger than what's going on. Whatever happens with this record, we aren't this record. We're 20 years of music-making. When we go on stage that's what we represent. We don't just represent this record.
We're really proud of this record, I think we made a great Duran Duran record. If it doesn't become the biggest-selling Duran Duran record ever, it doesn't matter. As long as we're happy working together and enjoying ourselves and the audience like it, we're growing every day in our minds.

"Well, you know, the record industry is in decline, and no one sells as many records as they used to,
but if you're primarily a live act, you can still make a very good living. In Duran Duran these days,
our recordings are very much intended to fuel our live career. Really, it would be wrong to suggest that
we're a band that's still stuck in the 80s, but I readily admit that those early days were fantastic.
You could have your pick of pretty girls, or get a good table in any restaurant. We had a lot of fun."

Playboy.com Q&A
If you came of age in the 1980s, chances are you either got laid while listening to Duran Duran's Rio album, or at least tried to. You loathed lead singer Simon Le Bon for his flamboyant sex appeal, and prudently didn't try to pull off wearing girl's makeup like keyboardist Nick Rhodes

After nearly 30 years, Duran Duran could easily have relied on their classics to wow the sold out crowd at the Chicago Theater. Instead, their set took huge risks by showcasing half the songs on their latest album, Red Carpet Massacre. Opening with “The Valley,” they set the tone of the evening as an adventure in new sounds. Instead of a “Best Of” show with one or two new songs added as an afterthought, Duran proved their staying power by keeping the radio show audience on their feet throughout the entire 80 minute set.

The main difference here is that while the other experimental albums managed to offer up only three or four solid songs, this one is nearly solid from start to finish. The band sound relaxed and classy on “Red Carpet Massacre” and, much like U2’s “Zooropa,” once you get some quality alone time with this album, it will reveal itself as one of the band’s unexpectedly brilliant works.
In the first of our exclusive three-part Duran Duran video interview, frontman Simon LeBon reveals how the glamorous but dangerous lifestyles of "potential disaster cases" such as Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton inspired the video for the band’s new single Falling Down.

UPCOMING DURAN DURAN EVENTS
more live shows, November 1 will see Duran Duran commence a two-week residency at New York’s Barrymore Theatre on Broadway, before bringing the show to the UK.
“We wanted to do a week in London’s West End, but it’s impossible,” says Nick Rhodes. “You can’t find the theatres. We got lucky in New York, we found a theatre that had just been refurbished and was in between productions. We are desperately trying to find a suitable venue in the UK; I don’t really feel comfortable launching the new album without having a British date in already. It’s our home.”
in near future-fans will also be treated to a comic book, feature film, a book of letters from fans and a documentary.

BARRYMORE'S DURAN DURAN OBSESSION
Hollywood actress DREW BARRYMORE is so obsessed with British pop group DURAN DURAN, she believes she is destined to marry one of them. The Charlie's Angels star has confessed to a life-long crush on Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor and hopes to one day meet her idols. She says, "Oh, God - Duran Duran. I was convinced, if any member of that band would meet me, they would understand I was supposed to be their wife. I was absolutely in love with them. "I loved Boy George, too, and Cyndi Lauper. But Duran Duran were the ones."
DURAN DURAN DROP IRAQ SONG FROM NEW LP
DURAN DURAN have dropped Iraq war song CRIMINALS IN THE CAPITAL from their new album - because the track was too "angry". The Rio hitmakers were planning to include the song on their forthcoming Red Carpet Massacre disc, but have decided against it in favour of more upbeat tunes. Keyboardist Nick Rhodes says, "We've always reflected what's around us but we always tried to pick the more uplifting subjects. There was so much doom and gloom around that this record was becoming angry and political."

September 16.2007- THE EMMY'S!
On September16.2007 the band played at the aftershow party: The setlist is: Hungry like the wolf, A view to a kill, Come Undone, The reflex, Save a prayer, Falling down, Notorious, Girls on film and The Wild Boys.
Here are Rogers toughts on the event:
“We were very, very excited to be asked to perform at this year’s Emmy’s After Party. It must be one of the biggest events on the calendar in LA, maybe only second to the Oscars, so just being involved in the whole event is very special. There were a lot of celebrities – actors and actresses – turning up, so it was really cool to see them all in a different environment than we’re used to seeing them in. We surprised the crowd by performing “Falling Down” for the first time ever, and it went over really well. It sounded amazing and we were so pleased. The whole night couldn’t have been better for us, the crowd was great, we performed well and it was just really lots of fun.”
This summer, fans filled London's Wembley Stadium to hear DURAN DURAN rock out at the tribute to PRINCESS DIANA -- one of the late Di's favorite bands -- and then for Live Earth a week later.
Now, ET is announcing that the superstar pop group is performing at the hottest ticket in town -- ET's star-studded Emmy Party at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles!
"ET, the Emmys, and Duran Duran -- now that's a hot ticket," says the band's JOHN TAYLOR.
NICK RHODES promises the band will play "all your favorite songs from our last three decades of music."
That means, of course, everything from "Girls on Film" and "Rio" to "Save a Prayer," "Wild Boys" and "The Reflex"!
"I hear the food's gonna be great," adds Taylor with a raised eyebrow. "That's good, because I'm 'Hungry Like A Wolf.'"
The 59th Annual Primetime Emmys take place Sunday, September 16. Be there for all the red carpet coverage, backstage exclusives and A-list stars dancing the night away at the ET Emmy Party!

ROLLING OUT THE RED CARPET: Making the Album
Working with today’s top producers like Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Nate ‘Danja’ Hills and Jimmy Douglass, Duran Duran’s experience in making Red Carpet Massacre was one for the books.
Despite the buzz about Duran Duran’s “Nite Runner” stream at Entertainment Weekly, its label (Epic) has strangely chosen a different track for the first single, which you can stream here
SIMON ON UPCOMING SINGLE FALLING DOWN
“I used to race motorbikes some years ago so I have a little understanding of what racing means. I had a quite painful accident and in the seconds that I started to lose control over the machine I was swearing to myself if this goes well, I would quit. I kept my promise. But the result of this shunt will be in the record stores soon. I was doing a gig with Justin Timberlake and I performed a song called Falling Down, which I wrote with my motorcycling experience in mind. And as I don’t race any longer I will be a more frequent visitor to Formula One races in the future!”
The single should hit radio stations in first week of September
They will shoot a video for the single in LA
Album should be out end of October/ begining of November
The line-up for the London leg of this weekend's Live Earth (July 7) climate concert has emerged ahead of the Wembley Stadium show.
Setlists, guest hosts and even a surprise appearance by Justin Timberlake have been published this morning (July 5).
Timberlake is set to make a guest appearance in Duran Duran's set, while 'Dr Who' actor David Tennant, comedians including Ricky Gervais, Eddie Izzard and former Shockwaves NME Awards host Russell Brand plus Hollywood actors Ben Affleck and Leonard DiCaprio will be present, reports The Sun.

TIMBERLAKE TO GUEST STAR AT LONDON LIVE EARTH
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE is in talks to make a guest appearance with TIMBALAND and DURAN DURAN at Saturday's (07Jul07) Live Earth gig in London, according to reports. The singer is due to perform in the capital's The O2 on Saturday evening as part of his FutureSex/LoveSounds tour, but arrangements are allegedly being made for the star to perform on stage at London's Wembley Stadium in the afternoon. A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Justin and Timbaland have been rehearsing. "They have something special up their sleeve for fans at Wembley. They are juggling the schedules to make it happen." However, a spokesperson for the star denied he was being lined up to perform at the global extravaganza.
Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes believes it's harder for bands to break into the music industry these days, saying record labels don't "develop" acts any more. FROM METRO UK
The 45-year-old, who was a founder member of the band in the 80s, said: "Labels used to be happy to spend money on an act and develop them over two, three albums, so it gave people time to mature, to find their sound and a little security to know they were able to release another album if the first one didn't do very well."
"That's simply not the case any more. Record labels are more interested in getting an act that's already been proven to have some success on television and they don't seem to care so much about real art. I think that's hugely disappointing."
The keyboardist added that the best chance for new artists in future would be the internet and he advised them to follow their own vision.
"Don't let people start watering it down because the chances are they don't know what they're talking about and as an artist you probably do," he said.

AMAZING PERFORMANCE OF DURAN DURAN ON THE CONCERT FOR DIANA
A PRIVAT DURAN DURAN PARTY-New album title Red Carpet Massacre
At least all four members of Duran Duran (Simon Le Bon, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes and Roger Taylor) were at the party to celebrate their upcoming album, Red Carpet Massacre, which will be released in October by Epic Records. Special guest producers and guest stars on the album include Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Nat "Danja Handz" Hills.
I was born on June 20, 1960. Another era. The Beatles hadn't happened yet. On my fourth birthday I had. a party in the back garden (or 'yard' as we would say in the US) and got given a yellow truck. Sometimes, in the summer, planes from the war such as Spitfires or Lancaster bombers could be seen and heard overhead. I didn't know at the time how memorable that would be.
I didn't love school. I like to say today that I would have been better suited to one on one tutorials, like home schooling or something, but who wouldn't.. I remember birthday gifts such as Thunderbird transfer kits, Airfix models which my Dad would build for me and a leather soccer ball which got kicked into the yard of neighbour (and resident bastard) Les Taphouse who caught the damn thing and wouldn't give it back. He was a copper too...
If nostalgia was food I would never go hungry. I love the stuff. Some people consider it a sickness, but not me. I love to spend time in the past. Sure, there's plenty cool about today, which is, like, my forty-seventh birthday, but like Christmas, it's doubtful there will ever be as much fun and excitement around this day now as there was when I was young. Aint that the way it is...
Having said that, I love my life and everyone in it. Everyday I think to myself, how come I got the golden ticket?
So thanks to everyone that has ever made my birthday rock, from my Mom and Dad, to Atlanta, and Gela of course, and Travis and Zoe; the band and all of our esteemed helpers: and of course, to all of you out there for even caring. Today is a good day!
Love,
John

4 DAYS TO GO
From rehearsing in London to preparing for a trip to New York, Duran Duran are gearing up for their ONLY US appearance on June 17th at The Hammerstein Ballroom.
Coming over from the UK, where the band members have been finishing up final mixes for their upcoming CD and rehearsing for their NY show, the band can’t wait to finally get in front of an audience. With the performance of a song voted on by their fans, and perhaps a new tune or two thrown in the mix, Duran Duran’s upcoming concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom will definitely be a one of a kind event.
Check out Duranduranmusic.com for more information on being a part of this intimate and not to be missed show!
more in the news: Duran Duran's ebbing street cred received a shot in the arm last November when it was announced that Justin Timberlake would appear on the band's next album.
The collaboration has clearly been mutually beneficial. After contributing a song called "Night Runner" to the record, he says that he will hook up with singer Simon Le Bon to write another tune.
"We're currently working on a second song which I wrote with Simon," Timberlake told Pandora at the Shrek 3 premiere. "It is called 'Falling Down'.
"It's an honour to be making music with them - these guys were my childhood idols."
June 8.2007 happy B-Day dear Nick
a message from Nick: I wish I could recycle the space between my words and the air that flows around me when I am sleeping, then perhaps the year would havemlasted just a little longer... I Thank you all for your kind birthday wishes, poems, supernatural gifts, abstract artifacts and invitations to accompany you on a journey into space. Despite the constraints of time, you collectively and forever continue to encourage me to explore the darkened rooms that beckon to be illuminated and enable us to continue as Duran Duran.
I am thrilled to say that what we have created in this bizarre vacuum termed a year is causing dangerous levels of excitement in our brigade. It has been an incredibly inspiring period, and much to my shock and delight I could not possibly have predicted a single day's events. Whilst it may all be purely subjective, it is somewhat reassuring that we all agree (sometimes) regarding our uncertain future as an ongoing musical experiment. We made an album 25 years ago, and although that seems to be in the distant past, it also feels like yesterday, I remember the feeling of elation as I listened to the final mixes, and somehow by closely guarding our hope, belief, vision and naivete, we have managed to preserve that excitement and anticipation, I feel the same way today, this is both precious and remarkable.
It's late I don't want to overstay my welcome so I'll gently sink into a haze of missing minutes, but when I get up I'll check again to make sure that I didn't waste any time.
Everything doesn't always have to sense.
Love from London,
Nick

As webmistress Patty Palazzo announced recently: "It has not been a rash decision by any means, however, John feels that he has pretty much done everything he wanted to do and say everything he wanted to say through his own site. We'd like to extend a massive, sincere thank you to everyone who has supported us and joined us on the ride. We are putting together a John's greatest hits from TTP archive that you will be able to access through duranduran.com. All merchandise orders will be processed through the end of May. Of course you'll still be seeing plenty of John as there is a lot of activity in the future, which of course will all be documented on the official Duran websites.... and you'll probably still see me around as well. Many, many thanks again to everyone, Patty".

DURAN DURAN STAR DESIGNS WORLD'S FIRST VIDEO GUITAR!
Nick Rhodes has designed the world's first ever prototype video guitar, which will be auctioned for charity in London on May 31st, 2007.
The “Pixelator” is one of the main features of the Rock Couture Collection that will be auctioned off at Gibson Hall in London next week under the gavel of Lord Dalmeny, Deputy Chairman of Sotheby's UK. Proceeds from the sale of Nick's guitar will go to Keep A Child Alive (www.keepachildalive.org), a NY-based global charity that is dedicated to providing life-saving Anti-Retroviral treatment to children and their families with HIV/AIDS in Africa and the developing world.
Commenting on the 'Pixelator' Rhodes said “Being a keyboard player I was very flattered when approached by Ian Spero of BigTimeTV to come up with a design for one of Fender's classic Stratocasters. I wanted to create something that had not yet been seen with an electric guitar. My first thoughts turned to technology, specifically how to turn the face of the guitar into some sort of TV monitor. What we ended up with I believe is the world's first ever video guitar that was appropriately programmed with psychedelic swirling abstract light and images.”

ROGER TAYLOR wed his Peruvian fiancee GISELLA BERNALES in a romantic Caribbean wedding earlier this month (May07). The Rio hitmaker, 47, and Bernales, 35, married in the Jalousie Plantation in St Lucia on 12 May (07) and were joined by Duran Duran bandmembers Simon Le Bon, John Taylor and Nick Rhodes. The couple started dating in 2005 after meeting in Washington D.C., where Bernales' father Fernando was based as a diplomat. The pair were attended to by Bernales' sisters Giuliana and Melissa and Taylor's teenage daughter Ellea as bridesmaids. This is the second marriage for Taylor, who has three children with his ex-wife Giovanna, who he divorced in 2004 after 20 years.
"I'm at home, in England, finishing up the new album and getting ready for the summer shows we are going to be doing, and at the top of my list is the Fan Community concert in New York City. It has always been something we've wanted to do, so we're really looking forward to it and can't wait to play a proper show on a New York stage again.
A couple of weeks ago we asked you to choose a song for us to play on the 17th at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Well the votes are now in and you've chosen what you'd like to hear. We have the results, but you'll have to come to the show to hear what it is - it's a surprise for all of you. Thanks for giving us the chance to do this. See you on June 17th." -- Simon LeBon

here is a message from Roger:
Well another birthday and another year celebrating far
too many years to mention; actually they say 'never
ask a woman or a member of Duran Duran their age'
because its bad etiquette...I like that one..and of course my birth date is completely fictitious anyway, it was created back in the 80s so it would seem that I was in the same age group as the other members of the band who are actually much much older ....Katy, can you please please back me up on this? Katy?.......Katy???
Anyway, I'm here in London listening to Simon cut final vocals whilst the rest of the album is being mixed in the studio next door by Nate 'Danja' Hills and Jimmy Douglass. Timbaland and Justin Timberlake have signed off on their parts so it seems that we are finally reaching the final furlong of a very long course. I can now say with the greatest of confidence that you will be hearing new material by the summer!
You may have heard a vicious rumour that I will be getting married this year (to my Peruvian girlfriend Gisella)...well it's all absolutely true and we will have tied the knot by the time we start playing live again in the summer - so wish me luck and see you soon!
All Love,
Roger x
Rolling Stone, 40th Anniversary issue
Check out Duran Duran on page 32 of Rolling Stone's 40th Anniversary issue - for an "in the studio" piece on the upcoming album!
It's a small piece - touches on 'Night Runner' as a "pounding techno dance anthem". Fall 2007 album release.
It touches on Andy leaving for creative differences - they call him the cornerstone of their music and that his leaving brought the four of them closer together.
John states the album is a 'conceptual piece' with such tracks as 'Skin Divers' and 'The Valley'.
Stars come out for Diana
Simon will perform with Justin Timberlake so this means they will perform an upcoming new single for Duran Duran : Night Runner
I am so very happy to have received such overwhelming support surrounding recent events & from so many people, simple individual messages of a personal nature, and at a time when from at least my perspective, tacky, manipulative, media grandstanding seemed so inappropriate and so tasteless - So massive thanks for your sobering & constructive words & thoughts.
God forbid that the public should ever be enlightened to the actuality thru' the media - sadly fact checking went out with freedom of speech - however when you have an audience of mature adults, who are still affectionately referred to as Duranies (I came up with that name by the way) but who are no longer teenagers, then the spewing out of misleading information is just plain stupid, do you actually believe everything you read? Please, I hope not! And that's why I refuse to deal with the common media for this purpose and have chosen a more direct route to communicate with the core audience.
I guess in reaching out to you, what I am attempting to do is define the type of relationship I would prefer to have with the audience for the future - If you don't like me music, then the rest is irrelevant" - Surely, after over 25-years in the public eye, you know what we are all about by now. For sure when we were younger a lot was based on petulance & obsession, when your finding out about how far you can push yourself & what you are truly capable of. Nevertheless my career is no longer driven by such uncertainly or insecurity's, which is where I feel I differ from others, & Iam really not obsessed with acquiring a new, younger (without whom we cannot get on MTV) audience, because Iam quite happy with the lot we have, old, young or in denial & unless Iam mistaken we have had our fair share of MTV plays, quite seriously more than most.
I find the whole notion that you are frozen in some pubescent bubble completely ridiculous, hanging onto every-word we say as if it were some kind of cult, I have had literally hundreds of regular letters & e-mail's, from regular boys & girls recently, and I can honestly say, (and you can check on the Studio Myspace) that none of these have been what you could refer to as as awkward or obsessive fan mail, just of positive support, not that I want you to stop loving us (and Iam sure when I meet Lennon in Heaven they'll need angels to take me away), however it's definitely not 1986 & all our hormones have changed, bugger me they really do calm down!!!
I mean lets be frank, we don't dye our hair these days because we want it a special color, no, its simply to hide the grey bits, that's of course if you've still got your hair - But for sure... "I'd rather have it grey than it go away" So I still dye & shades are so much more practical than make-up!!!
I was always told as a young man that this would all go away on day, and that pop music careers were short, temperamental & ultimately self-destructive, I often remind myself and my family that we are the 1 in a-million that beat those odds. Yes, with both luck & good judgment, but it was the songs that put us where we are, so there is a theory that if you can at least refresh that relationship with your audience, then they may, not always, but may, keep listening. (SEE: Myspace/ Andy Taylor Studios Ibiza to hear 4-new tracks)
Anyway, for the moment Iam absorbed in music, its coming out of my ears (well where else) so I genuinely feel that I have a lot of great work to come, and I certainly don't need a team of pseudo intellects to motivate that process within me, or to wipe my ass at every turn. You see... Eventually you realise that its down to you, the individual, yeah the one that's become arrogant & lazy.
Way to much credence is given to the "hidden depth" in our profession - when in actual fact it was about 5-horny teenagers, of dubious sexual persuasion, who sometimes shopped at women's clothes stores & wore make-up. Not that I've ever dabbled, but when I look at the 1981 scrap book I can't help but questioning what I was thinking, and then I stop thinking & get on with the day... Have a good one.
And a very special thanks to all the girls at the site for keeping this alive for nearly 10-years.

Fresh from its launch at Galeries Lafayette, in Paris, The Born To Rock exhibition moved to the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin, where for 8 straight weeks, it played to record breaking crowds and rave reviews. From 2nd February to 3rd March 2007, London's Harrods store will host the collection, featuring the world's first electric guitar, plus a wide range of spectacular guitars customized by the likes of Bono, Philippe Stark, Karl Largerfeld, Nick Rhodes and Bryan Adams.
Born To Rock's vast collection of 150 exhibits includes many rare and extremely valuable guitars, both vintage and modern, and offers visitors a chance to get up close to guitars normally only seen in the hands of rock stars.
The Nick Rhodes' guitar is an especially fine exhibit, for which a Fender was hollowed out and the entire front of the body was replaced with a digital screen that allows customized film footage to play across the whole thing. An absolute one-of-a-kind, Nick's contribution to the show was a technical challenge, and something that has never been achieved before.

John Taylor at The Namm Show
view some pictures here
Duran Duran enthusiasts lined up early last Saturday for bassist John Taylor's signing session at the 2007 NAMM Show, in Anaheim.
"I've loved Duran Duran since I was like 12 years old," said a thirty-something fan. "It's always been one of my dreams to meet one of the members. I've waited over 20 years."
The International Music Products Association's four-day event is open only to members of the musical instruments and products industry, featuring many acts who show up to endorse products, announce partnerships and make other appearances. But you can can still buy everything musical around.
And lots of the 87,500 attendees were most aiming to meet as many celebrities as they could find, since musicians come scheduled or unannounced, even performing at invitation-only concerts put on by companies.
During a news conference, Taylor said he enjoys seeing such loyal fans, who have followed him at other promotional events for his guitars. "I live for this," joked.
Miami Herald(small Nick article)
Q: I'm a guy in my late teens and I think it rocks when guys wear makeup. My girlfriend is not quite sold on the idea, though. What can I say to convince her that not only is it cool and modern but it's pretty damn sexy?
Nick Rhodes: Dump her and get someone cooler! I don't think you need to say anything to people. People need to have personality and originality, and everyone should be unique in their own way. If the other people you're mixing with don't accept that and are excited by it, then you're mixing with the wrong crowd.
I think that most girls I've ever met, that I've liked, are much more fascinated by men that are in touch with both their masculine and feminine sides. If they're not, that's OK, they're just a different type of girl.
The first time I ever recognized guys wearing makeup was in the 1970s when I was growing up in Britain, listening to glam rock and watching David Bowie, Mark Bolan, Brian Ferry and all of those English bands that really did pioneer a new look.
But interestingly, it goes all the way back to old Hollywood -- the '20s and the '30s, when glamour was glam. It's about doing what the hell you want and not caring what anyone else thinks. Life is too short to find the people who have a problem with too many things.
We should all just live in a safe and beautiful world.

UK single charts change download rules
Rules regulating digital download sales and how they count for chart success will be changed from 1 January.
The OFFICIAL CHARTS COMPANY is relaxing its rules to make more downloads count toward chart success, reflecting the dominant position of downloads in the UK singles charts.
The new rules will mean album tracks, B-sides and catalogue tracks will be able to take chart success, even if the song is only available online. CD singles will be allowed to carry extra tracks and offer extended running times.
Until now, downloads only contributed to chart success in the week before a song was released on a CD and until two weeks after a release was deleted.
Downloads have helped increase UK single sales from 32.3 million in 2004 to 62.1 million in the first 51 weeks of 2006.
"This new ruling changes the nature of a single and puts the consumer in the driving seat," Steve Redmond, director of the UK Official Charts Company told the BBC. "Literally any track can be a hit - as long as it sells enough."

Princes Williams and Harry plan concert in Princess Diana's memory
She may be gone, but her legacy lives on. Princess Diana's sons Princes William and Harry are planning a musical concert on July 1, her birth anniversary, next year at the Wembley stadium to mark 10 years since her untimely death. The Princess of Wales died on August 31, 1997, at the age of 36 in a car crash in Paris while trying to evade the paparazzi.
Her two sons want the concert to be a celebration of her life and are expected to invite top singers, including Sir Elton John, to perform to a 90,000-strong crowd. Though no official statement has been released from the Buckingham Palace, a Clarence House spokesperson is reported to have admitted that next year's tributes would be bigger than so far.
“We're considering a number of options on how best to commemorate next year. William and Harry will make a decision in due course,” the spokesperson said. Prince of Wales communications manager Paddy Harverson added that an official statement would be released before year-end.
“The princes are considering a number of possible options for how they would like to remember their mother. This is just one possibility among several and I would not like to go into any more detail while discussions are ongoing,” he said. Funds raised by the concert would go to charities that were close to the late princess' heart, like those for AIDS patients and landmines survivors.
Work on the Wembley stadium is not complete yet but is expected to open before the FA Cup finals in May. Elton John might sing Candle In The Wind, a song that he performed at her funeral, which was telecast worldwide. Others expected to perform are George Michael, Sting, Duran Duran, Phil Collins, Robbie Williams and Beyonce, among several others. “Diana adored music and loved going to concerts. Her sons have inherited her passion. William and Harry want this to be a concert that everyone will remember forever,” a source close to the princess' 24- and 22-year-old sons said.
The Princess of Wales died on August 31, 1997, in a car crash at the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris. At the time, she was with Dodi Al-Fayed, son of Harrods' owner Mohammad Al-Fayed. The crash, which occurred when the Mercedes-Benz S280 crashed into a pillar in the tunnel, killed both Al-Fayed and Diana, as also the driver Henri Paul.
Only Al-Fayed's bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones survived the crash because he was the only one with his seatbelt on. Paul and Al-Fayed died immediately while the Princess of Wales died in the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital hours later. Her funeral was held on September 6, 1997, and was seen on the television by as much as one billion people the world over.
the rummour is that Duran Duran will also participate on this event

TIMBERLAKE WORKS ON DURAN DURAN ALBUM
Associated Press
NEW YORK - Justin Timberlake is working on Duran Duran's new album, along with superproducer Timbaland, who created recent smash hits for both Timberlake and Nelly Furtado, the British band said.
"We've got some good stuff happening," said lead singer Simon LeBon. "We've done three tracks with Timbaland; we've collaborated in a writing and production manner on one of those tracks with Justin Timberlake. We've got a lot really hot producers who are hotly interested in working with us at the moment. We are in a very good space."
Duran Duran, who had its biggest hits in the '80s with such songs as "Rio" and "The Reflex," was in New York last Tuesday to perform at Cipriani's at a benefit for the AIDS research organization AmFar. The night also featured an auction, led by Sharon Stone, of luxury items.
The performance was without one of its founding members: Guitarist Andy Taylor left the group late last month.
Bassist John Taylor likened the split to a divorce. He said, "There were many strong differences of feeling within the band for some time now."
However, he said, Taylor's departure has been "empowering, quite freeing" for Duran Duran.
"We've been playing over the last few weeks around Europe and in the States, and we're just putting it into the music," he said.

Duran Duran stays strong despite rift, John Taylor on latest/ regarding the band formation and the upcoming album
John Taylor says the split had been coming for some time.
“We’ve not really been on the same page for a while. And it’s been getting very testy most of this year, actually. And there’s just been a break coming. We’ve had different aims, different considerations, different loyalties.”
Andy Taylor was always the rocker in Duran Duran, and when the new recordings, some of which include work with Timbaland and guest vocals by Justin Timberlake, took a new direction, that was “really when the cracks started — it didn’t look like there was any turning back . . .
“It’s happened before; he’s left before,” John Taylor says of Andy Taylor. “And I think he’s probably struggled with the concept of Duran Duran, with the ethos of Duran Duran, whatever that is, more than any of us, and how he sees himself within it. And we had a good ride; the reunion was amazing.
“And life goes on. Four out of the five of us have rediscovered each other, and realized that we’re the best friends we’ve ever had. And we’re enormously grateful to have each other in our lives. And there’s nobody I’d rather make music with, and I can say the same for the other three. I don’t think I could say that for Andy.”
The group started working on a new record last year, including the tracks with Timbaland. Taylor says that there’s no release date set yet, and that the band will work on its own pace. “That’s one of the things about not being the latest thing — I don’t feel under any pressure to deliver.”
Astronaut was put together over three years, but the circumstances were different, because “we were trying to write ourselves into a record deal. When we got back together, I think we thought all we had to do was get back together, alert the media and they’ll be lining up to write us a check. And it didn’t happen like that. . . . We really needed to show [the industry] that we were serious. And the way to do that was to get out on the road and sell concert tickets.”

Well, history repeats itself again with the band :-(.
Andy Taylor left the band, again
To Our Fans
We know that there has been a tremendous amount of speculation over the past few weeks regarding Andy Taylor's continued involvement with the band and we are sorry that we've been unable to provide you with more information until now. The past five years have been an incredible journey for us all - and having the original five back together was something that we had wanted to see happen for some time. As of last weekend, however, the four of us have dissolved our partnership and will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy, as we have reached a point in our relationship with him where there is an unworkable gulf between us and we can no longer effectively function together. Although obviously disappointed and saddened about this, we are excited about the next chapter of the Duran Duran story and look forward to seeing you all soon.
Duran Duran` slates all recent Bond themes and say, give us a go again
Nick Rhodes hates all the James Bond theme songs which followed Duran Duran's 1985 track for "A View To A Kill", and insists the band should have been asked to record the song for new 007 movie Casino Royale.
The keyboardist believes the subsequent theme songs have lost their way because the chosen artists haven't cared enough about the suave super spy character - reports ContactMusic.
He says, "I think they lost their way after we did it. I haven't heard the new one, but I've heard it isn't great, which is disappointing if it's true. "They've all been a bit shit to be honest. I think it's time we did another one. I know a lot of people would like that as the song and the film are cult classics."
"It was a different kind of song for Bond back then but we made sure it had the classic Bond ingredients, which the new songs don't seem to have."
Justin Timberlake and Duran Duran update-news are good
"This is the best thing that could have happened to us. It relights your fire, baby." So says Duran Duran lead singer Simon Le Bon, speaking of what he describes as a renaissance for the 70 million-plus record-selling group, now that they're in the studio working with hip-hop producer Timbaland. He reveals they've recorded three songs for their next album so far, including one with Justin Timberlake.
Timbaland, he notes, "works very quickly. We're usually slow as snails. It's quite a challenge and we had to change the way we play, really. Particularly me. I had to be able to come up with ideas very quickly on the microphone. Just do it. Have new lyrics the next day -- or that evening." Le Bon says he, his group mates, Timbaland and Timberlake are all "interested in doing more. The stuff is great! We know we have two singles already."
He describes the New York studio, where Timbaland has recorded the likes of Jay-Z, Aaliyah, Timberlake and Ludacris, as "like a Swiss chalet, but really bad, with dark varnished wood, a cuckoo clock without a pendulum and strange things like that. In an odd way, it helps make the music happen."
